About Me

Hello! My name is Lawrence Yuen and welcome to my website. I graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor's Degree in anthropology. I originally planned on pursuing a career in Human Resources, but the pandemic hit and made searching for jobs difficult.

While in college, a lot of my friends were in computer science. It did peak an interest in me as I loved video games. But based on their experiences, it seemed very difficult and challenging. Quite a handful of them switched majors because of the difficulty. With the pandemic and all, I thought it was a good opportunity to try out coding. I was debating a lot on it as it was a completely different path from what I was originally planning. But with a little push and support from the people I loved, I decided to enroll in UC Berkeley's coding bootcamp. I had an office job at the time so I could only code as a part time student. Nonetheless, I found coding to be very enjoyable. However, I do admit I had a fair share of headaches and problems that I couldn't wrap my head around. But as I continued taking the course and working on my assignments, I could envision myself as a software engineer. Video game development is always an interesting subject for me, but I do not plan on only applying to such positions. I enjoy coding as a whole as it feels very satisfactory just seeing your efforts come to life.
